Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective August 16, 2026 · Last updated: August 16, 2026
This policy explains how HUSH terms work — institution and instructor seat plans renew automatically, while student plans are a one-time charge that never renews — how to end a plan, and when we issue refunds.
1. Plans covered
- Institution / instructor seats: per-student seats purchased by a department, institution, or individual instructor at $20 per student per year (or the monthly equivalent shown at checkout).
- Student access: a student buys their own HUSH access for $20 per year when joining a class that is not covered by purchased seats.
There is no free trial. Every plan is paid from the start of the term you purchase.
2. Renewal depends on who pays
Institution, department, and instructor seat plans renew automatically at the end of each term at the then-current price, until you cancel. The renewal date is shown at checkout, on your receipt, and in the billing portal.
Student plans do not renew. A student is charged once for the term shown at checkout — an annual plan is a single charge covering 12 months — and we never charge that card again. Access expires at the end of the paid term and there is nothing to cancel; purchase again to continue.
3. Ending or changing a plan
Seat plans: open Billing in your dashboard to use the customer portal, or reach us through our contact form. Cancelling stops future renewals and access continues until the end of the period you already paid for; assigned students keep access through that period. Student plans: nothing to cancel — access simply ends on your term end date.
If access lapses, your account and data are retained; purchasing again restores full access.
4. Refunds — institution and instructor seats
Seat subscriptions are billed in advance, so we generally do not refund partial periods or unused seats. We will issue a refund when:
- You were charged after cancelling, or charged in error or in a duplicate transaction.
- The Service was materially unavailable for a sustained period during your term.
- You request a refund within 14 days of a new annual charge and the seats have not been meaningfully used that term.
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 5–10 business days.
5. Refunds — student access
- Full refund if you request it within 14 days of purchase and have not substantially used the Service.
- Full refund if the class you paid to join is cancelled, deleted, or was never made available to you.
- Full refund if your institution later purchases seats that cover you for the same period, so you were charged twice for the same access.
- After 14 days, we do not refund the remainder of an annual term. Student plans never renew, so there is no future charge to stop.
To request a student refund, message us through our contact form using the email address on your account.
6. Failed payments
If a payment fails, Stripe retries automatically for a short period. If retries fail, the subscription may be paused or cancelled and access suspended. You can update your card in the customer portal at any time.
7. Account deletion
If you delete your account while a subscription is active, we cancel the subscription first so you are not billed again. Existing charges are not automatically refunded, but you can request a review under this policy.
8. Contact
For any billing question, message us through our contact form. We respond within a few business days, and always within 10. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
