Acceptable Use Policy

Prohibited content and behavior

• Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, or intimidation of any person — in the class feed, in chat, in a room, or in a direct message.
• Hate speech targeting protected classes.
• Sexual content, including sexual content involving minors (which is also reported to authorities), and sharing intimate images of anyone without consent.
• Encouragement of self-harm or violence.
• Doxxing: posting someone's private information, or screenshotting and redistributing classmates' messages outside the class.
• Impersonating another student, an instructor, or HUSH staff.
• Illegal content or content that infringes intellectual-property rights, including redistributing an instructor's course materials outside the class.
• Academic dishonesty: sharing exam content, soliciting answers to graded work, or using chat, rooms, or the Course Assistant to cheat in violation of your institution's policy.
• Spam, flooding, mass @mentions, unsolicited promotion, or coordinated manipulation of votes and polls.
• Uploading malware, phishing links, or files intended to harm devices.
• Attempts to bypass moderation, blocks, rate limits, attendance check-in controls, or safety filters — including sharing check-in codes with absent students.
• Automated scraping, load testing, or security probing without written permission.
• Prompt-injection attempts designed to extract system prompts, other courses' materials, or another user's data from the Course Assistant.

Instructor and teaching-staff responsibilities

• Communicate expectations to students before sharing a class code.
• Moderate the class feed and act on flagged questions in a reasonable time.
• Review AI-generated lessons, challenges, and confusion maps before presenting them to students.
• Only upload materials you have the right to distribute to your class.
• Respect the product's privacy boundaries: student Class Chat, Study Rooms, and Direct Messages are not visible to course staff, and staff must not pressure students to hand over private conversations.

Reporting and enforcement tools

You do not have to wait for someone else to act. In the app you can:

• Report message — send a message, question, room post, or direct message to HUSH moderation for review.
• Block user — stop a classmate from messaging you directly.
• Mute — silence notifications from a conversation or room without leaving it.

Reported content is reviewed by HUSH moderation. Professors and institution administrators do not get unrestricted access to private student conversations because a report was filed; we share only what is necessary to act on the report or to protect someone's safety.

Enforcement

We may remove content, restrict chat or messaging, suspend classes, or terminate accounts for violations. Serious violations — credible threats of violence, child sexual abuse material, or imminent risk to life — will be reported to appropriate authorities and, where relevant, to institutional safety offices.

Reporting outside the app

Anyone can also report a violation through our contact form. Include the class code and, where possible, the question, message, or room so we can investigate quickly. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
